What we do is "simple."
We provide the largest and most easily researchable database of it's kind on the web, designed and presented so that anyone can find the valid facts they need without the need to participate in any belief system. We do this through a combination of exhaustive work, impeccable methods and the suspension of opinions.
Research First, we comb through all the recently published scientific literature and peer reviewed professional journals for properly conducted, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled studies that reveal facts in our areas of interest. These studies we add to our database in their entirety.
Meta Analysis Next, we compare the results with all previous studies of similar subjects to see how they relate. This is important because the more times the results can be corroborated by other scientists under similar conditions, the more likely they are to be valid and useful facts. We also compare the results of all tests with statistical surveys and field studies of similar subjects to find further correlation. The results of these searches are then added to our database.
Extensive Data Base As a result we have a constantly updated catalog of high quality scientific studies cross referenced to statistical registers. Abstracts of the tests and the resulting correlations are kept available to our subscribers who wish to delve more deeply into the subjects covered in our main page articles, as well as links to the original studies in their entirety.
Presentation Next we begin our job of presenting these facts for your use. We have designed a system that eliminates bias, preserves the integrity of the facts, and makes it understandable to those not conversant in science. This is no easy task, for we must present an often complex series of important data in an easily understandable format without digesting them into generalities.
Our methods...
Choose the Right Subjects Our topics are chosen according to priorities which we hope are shared by our members (See "SUBJECTS"). We stick to important lifestyle issues and avoid the frivolous "news" which can be found in abundance elsewhere. Our writers work in teams to eliminate personal bias and to share the burden of the exhaustive factual research necessary for each report. Considering that many subjects have been studied hundreds and sometimes thousands of times by scientists around the world, this is the most work intensive part of our job. Based upon the research, team members record their observations in the form of an article which is then turned over to the next team.
Check This team's job is to check the facts for validity and accuracy, scrutinize the observations, expose any fallacies, challenge any conclusions, and rewrite the whole thing from a fresh perspective. Databases are recombed for new studies and experts in the field are consulted for any clarification needed. During this period of checking and rewriting, the work may be handed back and forth between the two teams many times before it is considered ready for the final step of independent test reading where any remaining bias is rooted out and inconsistencies corrected.
Re-check The final report must present all the applicable facts and observations without bias, no matter how it relates to popular opinion or prevailing scholarship. It's purpose is to put you in direct touch with facts, not opinions. It must be readable and understandable by the average literate person, not just scientists or professional researchers. It must give our subscribers what they need to make informed decisions in the most important areas of their lives. Above all it must state the truth. Only then is it considered complete.
Finally the report is given to our web masters who have the formidable task of putting it and all of it's links into an easily accessible format. They have designed the web site from the virtual ground up because of the importance of the content and the need for frequent updates. The work is underway and the site is under construction. We will soon have the largest accessible database of it's kind on the Internet and we hope it will be the world's first choice for vital information.
