Why should you pay for membership at PLAINFACTS.COM when so much health information is available for free?
Because it isn't really free.
"Free Information"
Actually, the notion of real information being free is largely a myth, as more and more people realize. It takes a rare person to give you valid facts without expecting something in return.
Such people exist, to be sure. The world is still a wonderful place. But how often do you find information untainted by the desire to sell you something or influence the way you think? How often are you presented with real facts that you can evaluate for yourself? How often is the information you receive free from bias and self interest? Not often that we have found, and the hidden costs of free information can be enormous in terms of wasted time and energy.
The Cost of Science Let's look at the very nature of scientific research. It is certainly not free. Done properly it can be very expensive and someone has to pay for it. Usually the costs are temporarily absorbed by the institution or corporation conducting the study, but whether the funds come from government research grants or a company testing a new product, the costs are ultimately passed along to you - the taxpayer and consumer.
If you haven't already paid for it in your taxes, you will at the checkout counter or pharmacy. But because you don't pay for it directly the system and the results are beyond your control. You rarely get the information first hand. You pay for it, but someone else controls it. If it reaches you at all, it is in "sound bytes" and as claims for often dubious products.
Yet so much of this information could be of great benefit to you and your loved ones if it could just be made accessable, understandable and free from personal and professional bias. If by paying an easily affordable amount you could insure that it is available to you in it's original form for you to control and use in your own life, wouldn't it be worth it? We believe it is.
Besides this, the time and effort you spend researching are worth something. And if you really understand what it takes to do proper research the way we do at PLAINFACTS.COM, you'd know what a value our service is.
Try it yourself But let's just assume you want to do it yourself. So you choose an important topic and begin to collect information. You comb all the databases of all the peer reviewed professional journals, research institutions both public and private, technical and medical libraries, and statistical fact finding agencies to compile your facts. You read the hundreds and sometimes thousands of scientific studies (i.e. there have been more than 30,000 studies done on vitamin C alone) and screen them for improper procedures, fallacies and bias. When you feel you have enough corroborated test results to make some valid conclusions you take a few days, or a few weeks, to write them all down.
Very good. You've done a good job and learned alot. All the time, the telephone bills and the subscription fees were worth it.
But we don't stop there. We only begin there. Our research and writing is done in teams to eliminate bias and is rechecked and rewritten repeatedly to be sure our facts are valid. Experts in all fields are consulted to insure that we miss nothing and misinterpret nothing. We do the most thorough and complete job possible and spare no effort in achieving that end. If you were to compute the amount of time, effort and dedication that goes into every one of our thousands of reports, not to mention the constant updating necessary, you might consider the yearly membership fee well worth it. In fact, when you consider that we do not accept advertising, sell no products, have no commercial sponsorship and only serve our members needs, you might decide that the yearly subscription fee of $79.00 is truly a bargain and preferable to being "free."
The whole idea behind PLAINFACTS.COM is to give you control over the vast amount of new scientific information that is your right to know, to bring you the facts first hand in an organized and easily accessable format, and to remove personal and proprietary agendas from the process.
We regret that it can't be done for free. We can, however, do it right and make it affordable.
The Internet Thanks to the Internet, the tremendous costs of building and maintaining a web site such as ours can be shared by an unprecedented number of people around the world who thus insure that they always have access to vital and valid facts.
If you feel that our concept is sound and our presence necessary, please consider membership.
Your involvement is vital to our mutual success.
